A Great Story Begins With a Great Idea.

Whether you're a beginning fiction writer struggling to find a great idea for a story, or you just want to create better story ideas -- ideas your readers will find more engaging and you will be more excited to write -- this course is for you. Two modules, comprised of 9 short lessons will have you coming up with better story ideas, in less time, and with less stress than you ever imagined.

What Makes a Great Story Idea?

Of course, writers find inspiration for stories from many different places, and most aspiring writers have a number of ideas kicking around their head, waiting to be written. But ideas seldom come to us fully formed. Often they are missing key pieces. And your sense that something is missing or unclear can make it hard to get started. Also, when a story is missing certain key elements, it is less likely to engage a reader's interest.

On the other hand, a story idea that has all the key elements in place, it will have a palpable emotional and intellectual tug. A prospective reader will instant know that this is a story they would like to read through to its conclusion.

As a writer, starting with a well-formed story idea means:

  • You will be more motivated to write and finish the story.
  • Your readers are more likely to find the story emotionally engaging and ultimately satisfying.
  • Your chances of writing a publishable story will be higher.

Moreover, beginning with an idea that has all the key elements in place can save you many hours of rewriting you might otherwise have to do, if you later discover your finished manuscript (which you spent months working on) is emotionally flat because it's missing an important element.

"Learn by Doing" How to Create Compelling Story Ideas

But this isn't a course on literary theory. It's a hands-on workshop that combines creative brainstorming with powerful and flexible formulae that have been proven to create compelling story ideas.
